How to configure a router to your Globe Wimax BM622 CPE Modem

Here is an example of a typical router ports
It's been awhile since my last blogpost, been busy. This is for my friends asking How to configure a router to use with Globe Wimax.

How to Configure a router to use with your Globe Wimax BM622 CPE Modem by Huwaei Technologies?

There are two types of router, namely the wired and wireless. What I have here is an example of a wireless router.

Wired and Wireless router are the same in terms of usability except for the fact you don't need wires for wireless, and convenient to use with wireless devices and gadgets.

Firstly, connect the router to your PC lan ports, Plug the cables to the number 1 port, not on the distinguished WAN port. Fire up a browser and type in to URL address bar, where you type website addresses to browse pages, type in http://192.168.1.1, this is always a default.

As shown here, number 1 port. It works anywhere
anyway, except on the WAN port.

Be aware that Modems is also configured at the same IP address as default, that is why sometimes jacking up a router behind a modem is not working.

Connecting the router to the PC and Offline is the best solution to configure it correctly.

You have two options, you can either configure your router to use a different IP address such as 192.168.0.1 or configure it as 192.168.1.2 (with its own DHCP server turned off.)

The Modem BM622 CPE, have its own DHCP server, it auto assigns IP addresses to any client that connects to it. Same as the router by default. To make it work, you need to either, change the router's IP address to a different one, and have both devices have its own DHCP servers turned on.
Here is an example of my router's config page.
mine is configured as an AP, so its DHCP is
turned off and have 192.168.1.2 IP

The other one is turning of the DHCP server option of the router and have IP addresses assigned by the modem and assign the IP of 192.168.0.1 to the router.

SO knowing that you connected your router alone to your PC head up the browser and select the appropriate options to have your router configured correctly. Login as admin and password admin, or password 1234, or to anything that your default routers admin login and access the appropriate options that you need.

After you decided on the configuration of your choice,
1. Set your router's IP address at 192.168.0.1 and have your modem connected to the router's WAN port and all clients or PC connected to the 4-ports available. If wireless, it will work automatically. The modem will assign IP to the router, then the router will assign IP to clients/PC.

2. Set your router's IP address at 192.168.1.2 and have its DHCP turned off.  And have the modem connect to port 1 of its 4-port (not the WAN port) and the rest of the client/PC use the other 3 ports or if wireless, the Modem will assign IP address automatically.

Hope this helps, as requested by Pia and Armel. Contact me if things still didn't work out. You guys know how to reach me. =D

I posted a Guide on How to Secure your wireless router.

hello anonymous, the best way is to configure your wireless router manually (if wireless)

connect the router to your pc alone without the modem. access its configuration via 192.168.1.1 on your browser. turn off DHCP server, and change the IP address to 192.168.1.2

then after the change, connect the router to the modem. then connect the pc to the router then test if its good to go.

if done correctly you will be able to access internet on all pc connected after this.

please note your need your computers to have automatic IP on. the modem will assign ip to the computers automatically.

hope this helps
