Sand Trailing at the beach of General, Nakar, Quezon

The Coconut Farm
Last Saturday, October 23, 2010 my wife ninei's birthday. I went out with my dad to visit our family roots. The town northeast of Rizal. I accompanied him doing his rounds along our properties in the area. We then visited a nice location at the beach where a fine brown sand beach front is located on the eastern side of the town facing the Pacific Ocean.

On the way there, we encountered some soft sand and some minor obstacles as deep as 1-1.5 feet.

I was surprised to see this area very fresh, underpopulated and clean. A nice resort or rest house would be nice to be built here. A nice place to relax away from city noise and pollution.

Jolicloud 1.0 First Look

The shaman came across Jolicloud 1.0 thru rinaz.net's blog post about it. I grabbed a copy thru jolicloud's site and tested the live cd session, then after a few testing and tweaking, decided to replace the currently installed Ubuntu 10.10 on the shaman's MSI wind U100 Plus.

I haven't tried the Ubuntu Netbook Remix, but I think it is in the same category, with a rather different approach. Booting in to the system and logging in you will be asked if you are connected to the internet, then declare it by clicking "I'm already online" button.

Oops, I forgot to install image-magick
The desktop is over-run by the jolicloud launcher, and by default the desktop couldn't be seen. Wallpaper is black, I tried to replace it, by going to the appearance tool, and replaced the wallpaper. On the app menu, you can't see the wallpaper either, next is the console. I love the terminal, I feel incomplete without it. I hit alt-F2 to launch an application and typed in "terminal." The terminal app launched maximized on the desktop. I enabled the transparency, so there. I finally get to see the desktop.

I find jolicloud very nice, and it will be a good operating system for online use heavily, but for offline mode I am not sure and haven't figured out how. Since at login the system connects or searched for

The Patch to Cataclysm and The Acer Restoration

Acer 5720G running Windows 7, patching
WoW backup on the external
500GB Drive
Patching World of Warcraft while taking a break from programming and getting the Acer to get back in shape before 12.07.10.

The Shaman's Acer 5720G that encountered white screen of death, During the time I tried to troubleshoot the error. I tried compiling  my own kernel at the time. So as to suspect a software glitch or error have caused this.

That led the shaman out of the game. There are many instances that I tried to isolate the problem whenever I got the time. And numerous occasions It get's to narrow the issue from a broader spectrum. Since most LCD has slim chance of getting defective than the inverter circuit. And several signs that make me suspect issues with its graphics card.

The Acer which eversince was running linux since I got it, from linux mint, fedora and much longer with ubuntu, accross each updates. I have been playing world of warcraft on this rig thru wine.

Looking back at CS 1.6

Arctic(one-shot) over at cs_assault
Back in the days when half-life burst out from valve, a mod got famous known as CS or Counterstrike. This is usually the common and most widely used online FPS games in the market.  Noticeably can be seen in any internet shop, including mine. Aside from Starcraft and Diablo II.

I remember the days when tournaments are being held almost everywhere, or team versus team winner takes all scenarios are rampant.

Where players practice tactics or strategy on how to defeat the enemy team, both on running Counter-teriorst or being a Terrorist. Days where youths played for hours and trained like there is no other. Joining regional or national championships and all.

The Troll likes Ribs for dinner

Pork Ribs
This is how the shaman prepare pork ribs. Yes the shaman knows how to cook, but not better than ninei.

I boiled up the nasty ribs for 3 hours to tenderize it then marinated in soy sauce with a mist of calamansi, onion and garlic and some seasoning.

The Shaman visits 8corners

8corners Paciano Branch - photo from
bebe fajardo's facebook
A rainy Friday night yesterday, the shaman and ninei headed out to visit 8corners, Paciano Branch, Calamba City. Just a few minutes away from our dwelling cave. This is a restobar that has live bands performing on the roof deck. We just occupied the ground floor, for a little drinks and grubs.

We were entertained by the owners, Bebe Fajardo and Tita Beth our good friends. We talked about stuffs like technology, facebook games and all while we lounged.

We had a good laugh with facebook game, especially cartown and others. Then we started the night with a pitcher of mixed drinks and some tasty grub dishes.

Food is superb, service is excellent. I only have my camera phone with me at the time, with no flash but somehow have a good shot with night mode.
